Spoken Word Narration for Short Film

Elijah Alexander

CAorBust.jpg

Elijah is currently writing Beat Gen-inspired spoken word for the short film Recollection: California or Bust, which he'll also perform/record as voiceover narration.  Conceived and directed by Natalie Young, the short is inspired by the Depression Era Dust Bowl days and focused on the youth who ventured West in search of a new beginning.  The film will be released online this summer.

Elijah is currently starring in a production of Noel Coward’s Fallen Angels at the Pasadena Playhouse.  Directed by Art Manke and co-starring the talented Pamela J. Gray and Katie MacNichol, the production has earned strong reviews and packed houses.   Elijah is French playboy Maurice Duclos, the play's Deus Ex Machina -- a charmingly colorful performance that Variety dubbed "sex on wheels".   Elijah will reprise his role later this year at the Laguna Playhouse

TROILUS and CRESSIDA

Elijah Alexander

Elijah just wrapped another successful season at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in a production of Troilus and Cressida directed by Rob Melrose.  The Ashland Link review ranked it in their top 10 productions of all time at the OSF.

Set during the Trojan War, Shakespeare’s cynical and bitterly funny indictment of the futility of war is made more immediate in OSF’s production, placed against the backdrop of the U.S. conflict in the contemporary Middle East.  This production is part of Shakespeare for a New Generation, a national theatre initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts in cooperation with Arts Midwest.

Elijah played the role Ajax, a brutish Greek General (in this production an over-trained special ops gunnery sergeant). He is Hector's half Trojan cousin and in a traditional dual with scimitar and dagger these two engage in a 'fight to the death' that ends in revealing more than just a victor.
